Journalists’ Issues to Be Taken Up with CM, Assures Minister Konda Surekha

Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has assured that she will bring the issues faced by journalists across Telangana to the attention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and work towards their resolution.
On Tuesday, leaders of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ-TWJF) met Minister Konda Surekha at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat and presented her with the HUJ 2025 Media Diary. During the meeting, HUJ President Arun Kumar and Secretary Jagadishwar highlighted key concerns of journalists and urged the government to provide health insurance benefits for them and their families.
The journalists demanded that the new health cards issued to government employees be extended to accredited journalists as well. Alternatively, they suggested that every journalist be given a health insurance policy worth ₹10 lakh per year. They also proposed a journalist life insurance scheme similar to Rythu Bima, ensuring financial security of ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh for families in case of a journalist’s untimely demise.
Responding positively, Minister Konda Surekha assured the delegation that she would write a special letter to CM Revanth Reddy advocating for journalists’ welfare. She also stated that she would discuss the matter with Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who is also the minister in charge of Warangal. Regarding housing and plot allotments for journalists, she said the government would move forward based on the CM’s decision.
On this occasion, HUJ executive members and senior women journalists, including Kanchi Lalitha and Peddireddy Vijaya, honored Minister Konda Surekha with a shawl.
Other HUJ leaders present at the meeting included Working President Gandra Naveen, Treasurer Battipati Rajasekhar, and members Chityala Madhukar, Kranthi, Kodavati Naveen, Poornachander, Raju, Renaiah, and others.
