CM Revanth Reddy Seeks PM Modi’s Approval for Key Telangana Projects

Delhi, February 26, 2025: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, urging the Centre’s approval and financial support for several key infrastructure projects in the state.

During the meeting at the PM’s official residence, CM Revanth Reddy requested immediate approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, which aims to expand metro connectivity across the city. He highlighted that the previous government had neglected metro expansion for the past ten years. The proposed Phase-II covers five corridors spanning 76.4 km at an estimated cost of ₹24,269 crore.

The Chief Minister also sought the sanctioning of the southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), noting that 90% of land acquisition for the northern part is already complete. He assured that the Telangana government is willing to bear 50% of the land acquisition cost for the southern part to ensure timely completion. Additionally, he proposed the development of a Regional Ring Rail project parallel to the RRR, which would enhance connectivity between Telangana and neighboring states.

To boost Telangana’s export and import sector, CM Revanth Reddy requested approval for a dry port near the RRR. He urged the PM to sanction a rail line along the RRR and a greenfield road to connect Telangana’s dry port with Andhra Pradesh’s seaports.

The revival of the Musi River was another major request. Emphasizing Musi’s cultural and spiritual significance, CM Revanth Reddy urged the PM to approve ₹20,000 crore for the project. The plan includes:

  • Bapu Ghat development at the Isa-Musa confluence,
  • 27 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) for Musi purification,
  • Construction of retaining walls and embankments, and
  • Delinking of Musi and Godavari rivers.

He also sought 222.7 acres of protected land for the proposed Gandhi Sarovar Project.

Citing the rise in cybercrimes, drug-related cases, and urban expansion, CM Revanth Reddy demanded 29 additional IPS cadre posts for Telangana. He pointed out that after the state’s bifurcation, Telangana received 61 IPS posts, with 15 more sanctioned in 2015.

The Chief Minister further appealed for the establishment of an India Semiconductor Mission in Telangana, arguing that the state offers ideal conditions for the semiconductor industry.

State IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu accompanied CM Revanth Reddy during the meeting. The Telangana government now awaits the Centre’s response to these crucial requests.
