A Journey of Perseverance and Determination

Despite numerous challenges, Sangeetha Gandu remained committed to her academic pursuits. She recalled how, during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, she conducted fieldwork under difficult circumstances, visiting bank branches of SBI and HDFC Ltd to collect data. She stood outside bank offices for hours, waiting for officials and customers to gather insights for her research. “It was a tough phase, but also an unforgettable experience in my life,” she said.

Acknowledging Support and Mentorship

Expressing her gratitude, Sangeetha credited her PhD supervisor, Professor A. Sudhakar, and CESS Director Revathi for their continuous guidance and support throughout her research. She also thanked CESS and Ambedkar University officials and staff, as well as her scholar friends and well-wishers who provided valuable suggestions and encouragement during the research process. She emphasized that her success was made possible due to the encouragement of G. Sujatha, who motivated her throughout her journey, and her family members, who stood by her side.

Overcoming Hurdles from Childhood

Sangeetha’s academic journey was marked by resilience from an early age. Born in a village near Shamshabad, she was determined to pursue education despite limited travel facilities. As a child, she traveled 50 kilometers daily to Narayanaguda Madapati Hanumantha Rao High School in Hyderabad to complete her primary education. She later graduated from Barkatpura Reddy Women’s College and went on to pursue her MBA from Osmania University.

Balancing Marriage and Higher Studies

Even after facing personal and societal challenges, Sangeetha never gave up on her dream of pursuing higher education. She revealed that her family was initially opposed to her higher studies, yet she remained steadfast in her academic ambitions. After marriage, with the unwavering support of her husband, she successfully completed her MPhil and PhD, ultimately earning the prestigious doctorate.

An Inspiration for Aspiring Scholars

Sangeetha Gandu’s remarkable journey from a small village to earning a Doctorate in Commerce stands as an inspiration for students, especially women striving to pursue higher education despite challenges.
