
Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy Emphasizes Intensive Research on Horticultural Crops
Mulugu, February 28, 2025: Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy underscored the need for in-depth research on horticultural crops to enhance their benefits for farmers. He made these remarks while presiding over the university’s first-ever Research and Extension Council meeting at the headquarters in Mulugu.
Dr. Raji Reddy stressed the importance of conducting technical research on field-level challenges faced by farmers. He emphasized that as a scientist, he would be truly satisfied only when research-based recommendations and solutions reach the farming community. Highlighting the university’s focus areas, he mentioned that special attention is being given to developing hybrid vegetable varieties and seed production.


The Vice Chancellor also called for greater awareness of horticultural and agricultural crops among students, starting from the school level. He announced that steps are being taken to strengthen the market intelligence system for vegetables cultivated in Telangana, ensuring stable and profitable prices for farmers. Additionally, he outlined plans to make villages self-sufficient in vegetable production.
Dr. Raji Reddy emphasized the need for a robust marketing network within a 50-kilometer radius to ensure better price realization for farmers and reduce transportation costs. He also highlighted the integration of modern technologies, including solar panels and artificial intelligence-based farming, to advance the horticulture sector.


As part of the event, Dr. Raji Reddy released the university’s 9th Annual Report.
Prominent attendees included Padma Shri awardee Chinthala Venkata Reddy, Nandyala Narasimha Reddy, Nagaratnam Naidu, Rama Rao, Jayapal Reddy, Anil Epuri, University Registrar Dr. A. Bhagwan, Dean Dr. Rajasekhar, Research Director Dr. Vijaya, as well as scientists, college principals, and department officials.
