Hyderabad, March 10, 2025 – The Communist Party of India (CPI) has officially announced Nellikanti Satyam as its candidate for the upcoming Telangana Legislative Council elections under the MLA quota. The decision was made during the CPI State Executive meeting held at Makhdum Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Sunday.
Nellikanti Satyam to File Nomination on Monday
Following the confirmation of his candidacy, Nellikanti Satyam is set to file his nomination at 10:00 AM on Monday. He currently serves as the Nalgonda district CPI secretary and is also a member of the party’s state executive. His nomination is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the CPI’s presence in Telangana’s legislative affairs.

CPI Expresses Gratitude to Congress
The CPI leadership has expressed its gratitude to the Congress party for allocating one seat to CPI in the Legislative Council elections. This move comes as part of the alliance and friendship between Congress and CPI, aimed at bolstering their collective political strength in Telangana.
CPI State Secretary and MLA Kunanneni Sambasiva Rao extended his thanks to Congress, stating,
“On behalf of the CPI Rashtra Samithi, we express our gratitude to the Congress party for allocating one seat to CPI in the MLA quota, out of friendship.”
Congress-CPI Alliance Strengthens Ahead of Elections
With the Congress already announcing three candidates – Addanki Dayakar, Kethavath Shankar Naik, and Vijayashanti, the nomination of Nellikanti Satyam from CPI further solidifies the alliance between the two parties. This collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape in Telangana, especially in countering the opposition parties Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Telangana Legislative Council elections are being closely watched, and the Congress-CPI alliance signals a broader strategy to unify forces in the state. As the nomination process progresses, all eyes will be on the political maneuvers leading up to the elections.
