Sandeep Kumar Sultania Appointed Principal Finance Secretary of Telangana

Hyderabad, May 13, 2025 – The Government of Telangana has appointed senior IAS officer Sandeep Kumar Sultania as the new Principal Finance Secretary. The appointment was formalized through G.O.Rt.No.597, issued by the General Administration (SPL-A) Department on May 12, 2025. A 1998-batch IAS officer of the Telangana cadre, Sultania relieves Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, IAS (1991), from his additional duties as Special Chief Secretary to the Finance Department.

Sandeep Kumar Sultania, originally from Bihar, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A graduate in Accountancy and a Chartered Accountant, he has served in various key positions throughout his career. Previously, he held roles such as Principal Secretary in the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Transport Commissioner, alongside positions in finance, cooperatives, tourism, and urban development. Notably, Sultania is presently working as the principal Secretary of the Energy Department, a position he has held since October 2024, where he also serves as Chairman and Managing Director of both Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TS Genco) and the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TS Transco). His extensive background in financial management, rural development, and energy administration is expected to strengthen the fiscal governance of the Finance Department.

The order, issued in the name of the Governor of Telangana and signed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, has been communicated to all Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries to the Government, Collectors, and other key officials at both state and national levels, including the Accountant General (A&E) in Hyderabad and the Secretary to the Government of India (DoPT) in New Delhi. This appointment marks a significant step toward enhancing Telangana’s financial and administrative framework under Sultania’s leadership.
