
Hyderabad Teen Becomes India’s Youngest, World’s Second Youngest to Conquer 7 Summits
Hyderabad, India – May 27, 2025: Vishwanathkarthikey Padakanti, a 16-year-old from Hyderabad, has made history as India’s youngest and the world’s second youngest mountaineer to complete the prestigious 7 Summits challenge, scaling the highest peak on each of the seven continents. His extraordinary journey culminated with the summit of Mount Everest (8,848 meters) on May 27, 2025, marking a monumental achievement in global mountaineering.


Vishwanathkarthikey’s conquests include:
- Asia: Mount Everest (8,848 m / 29,029 ft)
- South America: Aconcagua (6,961 m / 22,838 ft)
- North America: Denali (6,190 m / 20,310 ft)
- Africa: Kilimanjaro (5,895 m / 19,341 ft)
- Europe: Mount Elbrus (5,642 m / 18,510 ft)
- Antarctica: Mount Vinson (4,892 m / 16,050 ft)
- Australia: Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m / 7,310 ft)

“This journey pushed me to my limits—physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Vishwanathkarthikey said. “Standing atop Everest and completing the 7 Summits is a dream realized. I’m immensely grateful for the support that carried me through.”
His success is attributed to the steadfast support of his parents, Padakanti Rajendera Prasad and Padakanti Laxmi, and his grandparents. His mother’s mantra, “Doing what you love leads to a fulfilling and successful life,” fueled his determination. Vishwanathkarthikey’s rigorous five-year training under mentors Bharath and Lt. Romil Barthwal, an Indian Army veteran and seasoned mountaineer, honed his skills and resilience.
