
Amritsar, Punjab, May 27, 2025 – A powerful explosion rocked the Majitha Road Bypass area in Amritsar, Punjab, on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a suspected terrorist allegedly linked to the Babbar Khalsa, a pro-Khalistani terrorist organization. The incident, initially believed to be a case of mishandling explosive material, is now being investigated for potential terror links, with authorities pointing to the involvement of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).According to Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maninder Singh, the deceased was attempting to retrieve an explosive consignment when the blast occurred, likely due to mishandling.


Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Border Range, Satinder Singh, confirmed the individual’s association with a terrorist organization, stating, “He was a member of a terrorist organization and had come to retrieve the explosive consignment. We have received a lot of clues, and further investigation is underway.” Authorities suspect the involvement of Babbar Khalsa and ISI, noting their active presence in Punjab.The explosion caused severe injuries, with reports indicating the individual’s limbs were blown off, leading to his immediate death. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a detailed investigation to uncover the motive and potential accomplices. Preliminary findings suggest the suspect was planning to plant the explosive device, raising concerns about a possible larger terror plot.This incident follows a pattern of recent security concerns in Punjab, with law enforcement agencies on high alert for activities linked to pro-Khalistani groups.
