Hyderabad Public School Gets ₹300 Crore Boost from Star Alumni

World Bank, Microsoft & Adobe CEOs Among Donors; CM Clears Land for Mega Campus Upgrade

Hyderabad, August 17, 2025 – The pride of Hyderabad’s education sector, Hyderabad Public School (HPS), is all set for a historic transformation. In an unprecedented show of gratitude and vision, four global icons and illustrious alumni—World Bank CEO Ajay Banga, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Premji Watsa—have pledged a whopping ₹300 crore to their alma mater.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy confirmed the announcement, calling it a “landmark moment in Telangana’s education history.” The massive endowment will be used to create state-of-the-art infrastructure, futuristic learning spaces, and a model campus designed by leading architects.

A Legacy School with Global Footprints

Founded in the 1950s during the Nizam era, the HPS Begumpet campus has produced some of the world’s brightest leaders—CEOs of tech giants, policymakers, industrialists, and civil servants. The donation marks the largest-ever alumni contribution to an Indian school, cementing HPS’s reputation as a jewel in Hyderabad’s crown.

From Microsoft’s Nadella to Adobe’s Narayen, the school’s alumni list reads like a global who’s who. And now, this ₹300 crore gift will help shape the future of the next generation of students.

CM Revanth Reddy Clears Land Roadblock

Despite its vast expanse of land, the Begumpet campus had long been constrained by outdated zoning regulations, preventing new construction. Acting on a request from the HPS Society, CM Revanth Reddy signed off on the reclassification of the land, removing all hurdles for expansion.

With the green signal in place, the iconic campus can now integrate modern, tech-driven facilities while preserving its heritage.

Commitment to Access and Inclusion

While HPS is often associated with prestige, it also remains deeply inclusive. Students from economically weaker sections and SC/ST communities study here with government-supported fee waivers. The new infrastructure push, backed by alumni generosity and state support, will strengthen this model of excellence blended with accessibility.

What’s Next?

The HPS Society and Alumni Association are preparing to meet and finalize blueprints for the mega transformation. Sources indicate futuristic learning labs, global-standard sports arenas, and green smart-classrooms are on the cards.

This bold initiative, combining alumni pride and government vision, promises to make HPS not just India’s finest but also a global benchmark in school education.

✨ From Hyderabad to the world, HPS is set to redefine what a 21st-century school looks like.
