Taipei/Seoul: Jensen Huang, Chief Executive Officer of Nvidia, met SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in Taipei to discuss the future of cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) memory technologies.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Computex, one of Asia’s largest technology trade shows. According to a post on SK Group’s official Facebook account, the two executives reflected on their companies’ achievements in AI memory development and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing next-generation AI infrastructure.

The post highlighted the significance of SK hynix reaching a market capitalization milestone of US$1 trillion, noting that the meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to celebrate the achievement and discuss future collaboration.

Huang is expected to visit South Korea later this week, where he will hold a series of meetings with leaders of major Korean conglomerates. Industry sources indicate that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver founder and board chairman Lee Hae-jin are expected to participate in the discussions. Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung is also reportedly considering joining the meetings.

In addition, Kim Taek-jin, CEO of gaming company NC Corp., is expected to meet Huang on Sunday. A closed-door meeting with local robotics and AI startups is also planned in Seoul next week. Among the participants is Upstage, a leading contender in South Korea’s government-backed initiative to develop a domestic AI foundation model.

Ahead of his visit, Huang identified robotics as a promising area for future investment in South Korea. Industry observers believe the upcoming discussions could extend beyond AI semiconductor cooperation and focus on robotics and physical AI, an emerging field that integrates artificial intelligence with real-world machines and systems.

Huang’s previous visit to South Korea in October attracted widespread public attention. During that trip, which coincided with the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju, he joined Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group’s Euisun Chung for a late-night gathering over Korea’s popular fried chicken and beer combination, commonly known as “chimaek.”

Excitement surrounding Huang’s latest visit is already growing online. Industry watchers report that an individual known as “Jun” has created a website tracking Huang’s expected itinerary and related news reports, drawing significant interest from technology enthusiasts and the general public alike.
