The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) was inaugurated on March 30, 2023, by its founder, Nita Mukesh Ambani. The NMACC, located in the Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, showcases India’s rich cultural history through costume, performing and visual arts. The infrastructure of the center includes a 2000-seating capacity grand theatre, a four-story art house, a convertible Pavilion area of 52,627 sq. ft for art shows and exhibitions, and a studio theatre.
The grand opening of the NMACC was attended by prominent celebrities such as Hollywood stars Nick Jonas, Tom Holland, and Zendaya, as well as Gauri Khan, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sachin Tendulkar, Anupam Kher, Alia Bhatt, Suhana Khan, and Ranveer Singh. Anant Ambani, the younger son of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, was also present with his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, while Akash Ambani and his wife Shloka attended the event as well. Anand Piramal, a well-known investor and Isha Ambani’s spouse, was seen taking pictures with Akash Ambani, and Ajay Piramal, the father of Anand Piramal, also attended the opening.
The NMACC’s founder, Nita Mukesh Ambani, shared her vision, stating that the center is a tribute to India’s glorious legacy, traditions, and heritage, and a space that hopes to bind the community through the common thread of the arts. The NMACC is envisioned as a platform to spotlight Indian arts and culture at its best, both for the audience and the artists, and a truly inclusive center for performers and visitors, dreamers and creators, for one and all. With world-class infrastructure and robust programming, the aim is to make the arts accessible to everyone.
The Grand Theatre, with a seating capacity of 2000 people, has an exceptional customizable lighting system, a world-class combined Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System, and a Virtual Acoustic System. Additionally, 8,400+ Swarovski diamonds have been added to the latter to enhance and produce a distinctive, multidimensional experience. It also has 18 diamond boxes. On the other hand, the Studio Theatre has a seating capacity of 250 people, a flexible stage, an integrated Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System, an LED-driven theatrical lighting system, and assistive listening devices.
The Dhirubai Ambani Square, named after the founder of Reliance Industries, contains a lotus-inspired Fountain of Joy that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Mumbai and offers a rich, unique collection of beautifully choreographed performances. The Art House, which is a four-storey, 16,000 sq. ft. dedicated visual arts space, displays the work of international and Indian artists.
