Komaraiah’s elder brother, Doddi Mallaiah, was also a revolutionary who fought for the rights of the oppressed. Komuraiah was killed during the peasant struggle, which was started to liberate the people from the tyranny of the Nizam’s nobles, who were notorious for their cruel acts.

Komaraiah and his elder brother Mallaiah led the peasant struggle against the Deshmukh Ramachandra Reddy, who belonged to the Nizam’s nobility. Ramachandra Reddy’s mother Janamma Kadavendi of Visunur used to torture the people of surrounding villages. It was routine for her to encroach on the lands of the poor, extort laborers, kill them if they turned back, insult women, and rob in the name of taxes.

The Nizam’s institution was a dark one, and the people were oppressed in every possible way. The nobles, including Chaudars and Deshmukhs, used to collect one-fourth of the crop (Chaut) and Sardesh Mukhi (tenth of the crop), respectively. The oppressed people united for liberation from the anarchic rule, and they rebelled for economic independence. The movement was not limited to a specific caste, and all the castes, including Chakali, Mangali, Kummari, Golla, Kuruma, Goundla, Muttarasi, Mala Madiga, Lambada, etc., participated in the struggle.

On July 4, 1946, Komaraiah was brutally killed by the dora gundas, Nizam razakaars during a protest march. However, their sacrifice inspired thousands of people to join the movement, which ultimately led to the Telangana armed peasant struggle.

Komaraiah’s struggle was the inspiration for the Telangana Raitanga sayudha poratam( farmers armed struggle ), and later for many public movements and special Telangana state movements. Even today, Komaraiah’s legacy inspires people to fight for their rights and freedom.
