Apple set to open its first official retail store in India on April 18th in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla complex, according to a statement released by the company on Tuesday. The store, called Apple BKC, will offer a wide range of Apple products to Indian customers. The second store, called Apple Saket, is scheduled to open on April 20th in Delhi. The logo of the Apple Saket store is designed to reflect the culture and history of Delhi, while the Apple BKC logo features Mumbai’s iconic art, ‘Kalipili Taxi Art.’

There is a buzz that Apple CEO Tim Cook will be visiting India next week to kickstart the launch of the retail stores. While Apple has not confirmed this, industry sources believe that Cook’s visit will accelerate the company’s plans to expand in India. Apple aims to move its manufacturing activities out of China, and India seems to be its first choice. The opening of the retail stores by Cook himself is seen as proof of that. Cook’s last visit to India was in 2016.
