Hyderabad is set to unveil the tallest statue in the country, a 175-feet monument of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The statue comprises a 50-feet pedestal and a 125-feet statue of Ambedkar. The statue is set to be unveiled by Chief Minister KCR tomorrow, marking the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar. The statue, built in the style of the Statue of Liberty in America, will be a tourist attraction and a scientific place.
As part of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the state government has announced the construction of a 125 feet statue of the Indian social reformer and politician. The monument, which is the tallest statue in the country, stands on a pedestal of 50 feet and the statue itself is 125 feet high. The statue has been erected in the style of the Statue of Liberty in America and is located on the banks of Hussain Sagar, adjacent to NTR Garden.

The project was allocated funds of Rs.146.50 crore, and the construction was entrusted to KPC Projects Limited, who were responsible for manufacturing the parts of the statue in Delhi before transporting them to Hyderabad. The statue is made of strong metal materials to withstand natural calamities. The construction of the statue was completed within a year, and two lifts with a capacity of 15 people were installed to reach the foot of the statue.

The memorial building inside the pier has a built-up area of 27,556 feet, and a museum and photo gallery depicting the important events of Dr. Ambedkar’s life has been set up inside. Audiovisual rooms have been set up in the building for visitors to learn about Dr. Ambedkar’s life and legacy. The government has also appointed a special committee under the Culture Department to set up a library and museum featuring books related to Ambedkar’s life, including his works.

A separate committee has been established to oversee the idol unveiling program, and the government has released Rs.10 crores for this purpose. The unveiling program will include a special photo exhibition inside the Peetha, which has been completed in preparation for the unveiling of the statue. As part of the ceremony, CM KCR will unveil the plaque and will be escorted to the statue by thirty Buddhist gurus, who will conduct prayers. The Chief Minister will then pay his respects at the feet of the statue in the liptu inside the stupa. Twenty Buddhist teachers will also conduct prayers as part of the program.
The government has also arranged for flower showers by helicopter after the unveiling ceremony. Around two lakh fresh water packets, buttermilk, and 80,000 sweet packets will be prepared for the guests attending the ceremony. The event will conclude with the CM addressing the public in a meeting held at the site.

Overall, the 125 feet statue of Dr. Ambedkar stands as a symbol of his contribution to the Indian society, and the memorial building serves as a tribute to his life and works.
