New Delhi, April 13: The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has issued an alert to all states and Union Territories regarding a potential cyber attack on 12,000 government websites across the country. The attack is suspected to be from a hacktivist group based in Indonesia.

The group is allegedly carrying out Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which aim to overwhelm computer networks with excessive traffic, causing disruptions to normal operations. The alert warns that state and central government websites may be potential targets.
This could be one of the biggest cyber attacks on India, following the AIIMS malware attack in 2022 which severely affected digital operations for several days, including smart lab services, billing, report generation, and appointment scheduling. In 2022, India recorded 13.91 lakh cyber security incidents, according to MoS for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar’s statement to the Parliament.
