Hyderabad, April 16:

Telangana has taken a step forward in strengthening cancer care with the inauguration of a new state-of-the-art oncology block at MNJ Cancer Institute. The event was attended by Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, and other dignitaries.

The new oncology block, constructed by Aurobindo Pharma, has increased the number of beds at MNJ Cancer Institute to 750. The government has provided all the necessary facilities at the hospital with a budget of 60 crores. The hospital now boasts a special women’s wing and pediatric wing, with a library and a teacher to ensure that the education of children who come for treatment is not affected.

Furthermore, the hospital has set up a special ward for Bone Marrow Transplantation, and medicines will be given free of charge for life under the Arogya Shri scheme. The government is also planning to make chemotherapy and radiotherapy available in districts for cancer patients.

Minister Harish Rao expressed his pleasure at the opening of the new block, stating that the government has been working towards strengthening medical services in Telangana under the leadership of CM KCR. The government is making 10 thousand super specialty beds available through the expansion of hospitals like Gandhi, Osmania, NIMS, and ANJ, as well as the Warangal Health City and NIMS. The government is also giving great importance to medical education and plans to start nine more medical colleges this year, bringing the total to 55 medical colleges.

Minister Harish Rao also emphasized the importance of maintaining good health through dietary habits and exercise. He mentioned that the government has taken several initiatives like Mission Bhagiratha for clean drinking water, Haritaram program for clean air, and projects like Kaleswaram for clean food.

In conclusion, the new oncology block at MNJ Cancer Institute is a significant step forward in strengthening cancer care in Telangana, and the government is taking several initiatives to improve healthcare and medical education in the state.
