Banks will be closed for five days from Republic Day at the end of this month. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a nationwide strike on the 30th and 31st of this month with the demands of having only five working days in a week, pension updation, cancellation of the National Pension System, increase in salaries and filling up of vacant posts. Before that, Republic Day is coming on 26th, Fourth Saturday on 28th and Sunday on 29th. 12 public sector banks will be closed for five days due to the strike of bank employees on 30th and 31st. Banks will be open only for one day on 27th. Private sector banks like HDFC, Axis, S Bank will not open on 26, 28, 29.
