
RPF Woman Constable Saves Passenger’s Life at Begumpet Railway Station
In a remarkable act of bravery, Kum K. Sanitha, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable stationed at Begumpet Railway Station, averted a potential tragedy by rescuing a lady passenger who was at risk of falling into the gap between the platform and a moving train. The incident took place on May 30, 2023, at around 09:00 hrs. Kum Sanitha’s swift action and presence of mind ensured the passenger’s safety and prevented a life-threatening situation.

The courageous act was part of “Mission Jeevan Raksha,” an initiative aimed at safeguarding the lives of railway passengers. Under this mission, RPF personnel go above and beyond their duty, risking their own lives to save others. In 2023 alone, RPF personnel have successfully saved two passengers who were in similar dangerous situations.
Kum K. Sanitha, hailing from Nalgonda District, Telangana State, joined the Railway Protection Force in 2020 and has been posted at Begumpet Railway Station. She has previously demonstrated exceptional dedication by assisting passengers in retrieving lost or forgotten belongings. Her heroic rescue serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of RPF personnel in ensuring the safety of railway passengers.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, the General Manager of South Central Railway, commended Kum K. Sanitha for her timely and courageous action, which saved a life. He expressed appreciation for her bravery and vigilance, stating that such acts not only boost the morale of the Railway Protection Force but also inspire other railway staff to undertake similar efforts.

They aim to raise awareness about the risks associated with boarding or alighting from moving trains, with the ultimate goal of preventing accidents and protecting lives.
