Hyderabad, July 28: The Telangana Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council are set to convene a fresh session starting from August 3, as announced by the state government on Friday.

This upcoming session is likely to be the final one before the Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place towards the end of this year.

During the session, the government intends to propose amendments to certain existing legislations.

In the meantime, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has scheduled a state Cabinet meeting at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Secretariat on July 31.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), approximately 40 to 50 issues will be discussed during the Cabinet meeting. Key topics include a review of the flood situation and the measures being undertaken by the state government in response to the torrential rain.

Moreover, the Cabinet will assess the current conditions in the agriculture sector, which has been heavily impacted by the incessant rains. Deliberations will focus on formulating alternative agricultural policies to safeguard the interests of farmers.

The state of roads, which have suffered damage due to overflowing canals and rivulets, and its effect on transportation, will also be evaluated. Decisions to promptly restore the damaged road network will be taken on a priority basis. Additionally, issues concerning the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will be addressed during the Cabinet meeting, including discussions on enhancing the salaries of TSRTC employees, among other matters.

The Cabinet aims to tackle these crucial issues and make appropriate decisions to address the challenges faced by the state, particularly in light of the ongoing heavy rains and their aftermath.
