State Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that what should be given to the future generations is not possessions but a pleasant environment. The Minister formally inaugurated the 13th Grand Nursery Mela organized at the Necklace Road People’s Plaza on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Talasani said that it is the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment. He said planting plants today will be a good week for future generations. The Minister appreciated the organizers for organizing the Grand Nursery Mela so that many varieties of plants available in different parts of the country are available at one place. He said that the state government has taken up the cultivation of plants on a grand scale through the Haritaharam programme. He said that they have taken up the movement of planting plants keeping the future generations in mind. He said that 260 crore saplings have been planted in the last eight years. He clarified that Telangana is the only state in which nurseries have been established in the name of rural nature forests among the 12,751 villages in the state. He said that the government has revived the forests and is establishing freedom parks on a large scale. He said that measures will be taken to ensure that 85 percent of the plants survive and support is being provided for the cultivation of natural forests.
It is said that plants grown in nurseries in all cities across the country have been made available in the nursery fair. He said that if kitchen garden, vertical garden and terrace garden are made as a hobby according to people’s wishes, we will be able to get mental excitement along with oxygen and reduce work pressure. He said that there will be relief if a small potty garden is established in the background of cities growing like a concrete jungle. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect the greenery. They will provide support to get good health and pleasant environment.

Mela Incharge Khalid Ahmed said that the Grand Nursery Mela will be held from 9 am to 10 pm till next Monday. He said that more than 150 stalls have been set up from different states. Rare plants, seeds, fertilizers, equipments are displayed and sold in the stalls. He said that plants like flowers, fruits and gardening are available and all can be found in one place. He said that this is a good opportunity for city dwellers and it is a good platform for those who want to set up home garden, terrace garden, vertical garden and kitchen garden. Khalid Ahmed explained that we have made available good quality plants and grafted plants with nurseries.
