Chandigarh, September 21: In a grim turn of events, Sukha Duneke, a notorious gangster of Punjab origin who was on the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) wanted list, was fatally shot in Winnipeg, Canada, as a result of an inter-gang feud, according to local police officials.
Sukhdool Singh, known by the alias Duneke, had affiliations with the Khalistan movement within Canada. He was also associated with the Devinder Bambiha Gang in Punjab and had fled to Canada in 2017 using forged documents to evade law enforcement.
His name recently appeared on a list of 43 wanted gangsters released by the NIA, which was seeking information regarding their illicit assets and activities.
Duneke’s murder on Wednesday night bears striking similarities to the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was also a victim of inter-gang violence in Surrey back in June.
Despite attempts to seek comments from high-ranking NIA officials, no response was received from their end.
