Chennai, Sep 26: Tamil actor-director Raghava Lawrence, currently preparing for the release of his forthcoming supernatural-horror-comedy film ‘Chandramukhi 2,’ paid a visit to superstar Rajinikanth to seek his blessings for his upcoming venture.
During the visit, Lawrence also congratulated Rajinikanth on the massive success of his recent film, ‘Jailer.’
Taking to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the actor-director shared a snippet of his meeting with the Superstar and wrote, “Hi friends and fans,
“Today I met my Thalaivar and Guru @rajinikanth to wish him for jailer’s blockbuster success and got blessings for #Chandramukhi2 release on September 28th. I’m so happy.”
Concluding his statement, he wrote, “Thalaivar is always great. Guruve Saranam.”
In the video, Raghava Lawrence can be seen paying his respects to Thalaivar (leader or boss) and seeking his blessings. Dressed in a traditional white kurta and dhoti, the ‘Don’ actor touched the superstar’s feet, bowed down, and offered a namaskaram (traditional Indian greeting), with Rajinikanth responding with a smile and imparting his blessings.
The two later shared a warm hug and posed for a photo, with Raghava Lawrence appearing ecstatic, and Rajinikanth sporting a smile.
Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ emerged as one of his most successful films, receiving critical acclaim and enjoying tremendous commercial success. It outperformed blockbuster films like ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Oh My God 2’ by a significant margin.
‘Chandramukhi 2’ serves as a sequel to director P Vasu’s original film ‘Chandramukhi,’ in which Rajinikanth played the lead role. Although the second film arrives nearly two decades later, it shares minimal connection with its predecessor.
In ‘Chandramukhi 2,’ Raghava Lawrence portrays Vettiyan, the modern-day incarnation of an ancient king also known as Vettiyan. When a family moves into the haunted palace of the old king, it triggers the awakening of the vengeful spirit of Chandramukhi, the king’s former court dancer, portrayed by Kangana Ranaut.
Chandramukhi, a deceptively beautiful and graceful dancer, harbors a deep desire for bloody revenge against King Vettiyan. Raghava, playing the role of the modern-day king, rekindles this furious spirit, leading to a series of spine-chilling supernatural events interspersed with comedic moments.
The film seamlessly transitions between scenes from the past and present, with the trailer teasing action sequences featuring Kangana Ranaut wielding a sword.
‘Chandramukhi 2’ is set to hit theaters on September 28, 2023.
