*Gaddam Prasad Kumar Unanimously Elected as Speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly* Hyderabad, Dec 14: Gaddam Prasad Kumar achieved a unanimous election as the Speaker of the third Telangana Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Protem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi declared the unanimous election, as Prasad Kumar was the sole candidate to file a nomination for the position.

A total of 23 sets of nominations, signed by members of Congress, BRS, AIMIM, and CPI, were submitted on behalf of Prasad Kumar. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu, and leaders of all legislature parties escorted him to the chair.

Prasad Kumar, a Dalit leader, was announced as the Speaker by the Congress party on the same day it formed the government on December 7. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all parties for ensuring the unanimous election, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in fulfilling the aspirations of the Telangana people.

Revanth Reddy acknowledged Prasad Kumar’s extensive experience and highlighted his role in the development of the Vikarabad constituency. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized Prasad Kumar’s understanding of the problems faced by the poor and weaker sections of society and expressed hope that he would lead discussions on addressing these issues.

BRS MLA K. T. Rama Rao congratulated Prasad Kumar, recalling their past association when he was the Minister for Handlooms and Textiles. He expressed confidence in the new Speaker safeguarding the rights of all House members. Ministers and members from Congress, BRS, AIMIM, and CPI also extended their congratulations to Prasad Kumar.
