
Andhra Pradesh Journalists’ Housing Scheme Sees Massive Response
Andhra Pradesh, December 22: The Commissioner of Information Civil Relations Department, Mr. Thumma Vijay Kumar Reddy, announced that the online application process for journalists’ housing in Andhra Pradesh has received a significant response with 5,756 applications submitted to date. The preliminary verification of 4,742 applications has been completed, and an additional chance is provided for 935 applicants to correct incomplete applications.
District Level Housing Committees have been formed in 26 districts of the state, with applications received by Collectors for further verification. The deadline for applications is January 6, 2024, and journalists are instructed to apply online within the stipulated time.

The state government is committed to allocating sufficient housing space to deserving journalists, stated Mr. Thumma Vijay Kumar Reddy. The government has issued GEO No. 535 to provide houses under the housing scheme to eligible journalists with accreditation cards. The list of 4,742 eligible journalists has been sent to the Collectors for further verification.

An opportunity has been provided to rectify incomplete applications for 935 journalists working in government and public sector organizations. District-level housing committees have been formed, and the verification process is underway. The final list of eligible journalists for full housing will be prepared after verification by the revenue department. Journalists will be required to pay 40% of the government value for the allotted houses.
