Tragic Discovery of Deceased Male Tiger in Khagaznagar Range
Khagaznagar, January 09
In a distressing incident, a male tiger, aged approximately 5-6 years, was discovered lifeless in the Darigaon beat of Kagaznagar range on January 8, 2024. The site, located roughly 8 kilometers from Khagaznagar, was meticulously examined by a team led by PCCF (HoFF) RM Dobriyal, alongside PCCF (CWLW) MC Pargain and experts appointed by NTCA, including veterinary surgeons.
Regrettably, the tiger was found near a local stream with a snare ominously draped around its neck. Preliminary investigations and observations by the team pointed towards a suspected case of poisoning.
In response to this alarming discovery, samples have been promptly dispatched to forensic laboratories for comprehensive analysis. The deceased tiger was handled in accordance with NTCA norms, and any cattle found in the vicinity, suspected to be involved in the poisoning, were also appropriately disposed of.

The entire procedure adhered strictly to NTCA guidelines. Local staff is now intensifying efforts to apprehend the culprit, with the initiation of an FIR at the local police station to expedite the investigative process. This unfortunate incident underscores the pressing need for increased vigilance and conservation efforts to protect our wildlife.
