The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, T Harish Rao, recently presided over a meeting to discuss road safety measures to be taken in Siddipet district. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Secretary R&B Srinivas Raju, Secretary Health Rizvi, Commissioner Transport Buddha Prakash Jyothi, and officials from the police, R&B, transport, and health departments.

During the meeting, Siddipet CP Sweta presented a comparative analysis on road accidents in the district, and the Minister directed health officials to study the Tamil Nadu model, which has been successful in reducing fatalities. The Minister also suggested that signages and speed breakers should be installed on accident-prone areas on the Siddipet-Hyderabad road.

Additionally, the Minister asked officials to designate hospitals in both the government and private sectors as trauma care centers and upload them to the portal. The R&B officials were directed to develop service roads and improve the illumination of islands on the Gajwel Outer ring Road.

Officials also discussed the various black spots identified in the district and the measures taken to prevent accidents in these areas. The state-level committee on road safety has been constituted, and similar committees are functioning at the district level, meeting regularly to develop action plans to prevent accidents.
