The farmers of Telangana have achieved a new all-time record in Rabi cultivation with various crops being sown in an unprecedented area of 68.53 lakh acres. This record surpasses the previous year’s record of 68.17 lakh acres. The paddy cultivation also set a new record with more than 53.08 lakh acres of paddy being planted in Rabi, which is the highest in the history of Telangana. In comparison to last year’s Rabi season, paddy cultivation has increased by 0.28 lakh acres.
Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Nizamabad districts have the highest cultivation of Rabi crops, with Nalgonda being the top among all crops, with 5.64 lakh acres cultivated. Apart from paddy, maize, pulses, and groundnut crops were also cultivated this season. However, some paddy cultivation has been affected due to electricity three-phase problems.
In terms of paddy cultivation, Nalgonda district has the largest area of cultivation with 5.40 lakh acres, followed by Suryapet district with 4.73 lakh acres and Nizamabad district with 3.93 lakh acres. The second-largest crop cultivated in Rabi is maize, with already 6.24 lakh acres being cultivated in the state. Among the crops grown in Rabi, after paddy and maize, pulses, maize, and peanuts are the most cultivated crops.
The Agriculture Department submitted a report on Rabi cultivation to the Telangana government, indicating that if the electricity three-phase problems persist, the state could achieve even higher records beyond 60 lakh acres.
