The anti-corruption branch of Karnataka Lokayukta conducted a raid at the Bengaluru residence of Prashanth Maadal, son of BJP MLA Maadal Virupakshappa, and recovered around Rs 6 crore in cash. A search operation is currently underway.

In a related development, Prashanth Maadal, who serves as the chief accountant in BWSSB, was arrested by the Lokayukta officials for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. Over Rs 1.7 crore in cash was also seized from his office during the operation. The arrest and recovery of cash were made after a thorough investigation by the anti-corruption branch.

The incident has once again brought the issue of corruption in the state into the limelight, with opposition parties slamming the ruling BJP for failing to curb corruption among its own party members. The Lokayukta officials have assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of corruption, regardless of their political affiliations.
