Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Appeals to Supreme Court Over Interim Stay on Bail in Liquor Policy Scam Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court challenging the interim stay granted by the Delhi High Court on his release on bail in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam.

Kejriwal’s legal team has sought an urgent hearing from the apex court, requesting the matter to be addressed on Monday.

On June 21, the Delhi High Court issued an interim direction to stay the release of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader following an appeal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the trial court’s bail order. The vacation bench of Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravinder Dudeja directed that the bail order should not be enforced until the matter is fully heard. The High Court reserved its order and is expected to announce its decision within two to three days.

The ED had earlier requested the trial court to delay signing the bail bond for 48 hours after the bail order was pronounced. However, the trial court denied the ED’s plea for a stay on its order granting bail to Kejriwal.

This latest move by CM Kejriwal to approach the Supreme Court underscores the legal complexities surrounding the high-profile case and highlights the ongoing judicial scrutiny.
