Hyderabad Dazzles as Miss World 2025 Delegates Embark on a Cultural Journey Through Telangana

Hyderabad, May 14, 2025 – The historic heart of Hyderabad came alive on Tuesday evening as the 72nd Miss World Festival unfurled its vibrant cultural tapestry, drawing delegates from 108 countries into a celebration of Telangana’s rich heritage and timeless traditions.

The iconic Charminar, bathed in golden hues and echoing with the sounds of centuries past, served as the starting point for an enchanting Heritage Walk that transported the beauty queens into the soul of the old city. The powerful beats of the traditional “Hadrami Marfa” drums and the regal rhythms of the “Naubat” or “Nakkare” filled the air, performed by a 12-member troupe that welcomed the delegates in grand fashion. At the Jullu Khana gate, the ceremonial Naubat nawaz added a touch of royal flair, setting a majestic tone for the evening.

Dressed in colorful traditional attire, the delegates gathered at the base of the 16th-century Charminar—Hyderabad’s architectural jewel—posing for photographs against the intricate stucco work of the monument. They explored nearby markets like Laad Bazaar, famed for its shimmering bangles and handcrafted souvenirs, drawing the attention of locals and media alike.

Nandini Gupta, Miss India World 2023, who played a pivotal role in welcoming the international participants, expressed pride in showcasing her homeland. “It’s an honor to host the Miss World delegates in Telangana, a land that blends history, culture, and hospitality. Hyderabad’s heritage is something truly special, and we’re delighted to share it with the world,” she said.

The cultural experience continued with the Miss World Welcome Dinner at the resplendent Chowmahalla Palace, a 200-year-old former royal residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad. The palace, with its grand Durbar Hall, Mughal-Persian architectural elements, and beautifully lit courtyards, offered a regal setting for the evening. Traditional Qawwali and Carnatic music resonated through the gardens as guests dined under the stars.

The dinner featured a sumptuous spread of Telangana’s culinary treasures: fragrant Hyderabadi biryanis, succulent kebabs, rich curries, and classic desserts like Qubani ka Meetha and Double ka Meetha. Elegantly decorated tables, local artwork, and floral centerpieces enhanced the ambiance, while guests interacted with dignitaries, cultural icons, and event organizers. A mesmerizing Kathak performance celebrating Telangana’s folk traditions added further grandeur to the night.

The 72nd Miss World Festival, themed “Beauty with a Purpose,” is more than just a global pageant—it is a platform highlighting Telangana’s commitment to cultural preservation and sustainable development. With projects like solar energy initiatives in Suryapet, Nalgonda, and Mahbubnagar, the state has aligned itself with the festival’s environmental advocacy, further elevating its global image.

Tourism officials hailed the event as a milestone moment for the state. “Telangana is proud to be a part of this international celebration,” said a Tourism Department spokesperson. “From Charminar to Chowmahalla Palace, we are presenting our living heritage to the world. This is a reflection of Hyderabad’s rising stature as a cultural and tourism hub.”

The Heritage Walk and Welcome Dinner are just the beginning of a series of events leading up to the grand finale of Miss World 2025, to be held later this month in Mumbai. Delegates will continue their journey through Telangana with visits to historic landmarks like Golconda Fort and the Qutb Shahi Tombs, as well as engaging in community service initiatives.

As the festivities continue, Hyderabad stands tall as a city where tradition meets modernity—leaving an indelible impression on the global stage and in the hearts of all who experience it.
