Banglore, March 27:
On Sunday night, during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Karnataka, two students from Bengaluru were arrested for violating security protocols. The arrested individuals have been identified as Imran and Zibran, both students and residents of Neelasandra. The incident occurred as Shah was heading to the HAL Airport to catch a flight back to New Delhi after attending a core committee meeting at the party headquarters in Bengaluru.
According to sources, the students violated security rules and joined Shah’s convoy from Safina Plaza to Manipal Centre, even though they were not authorized to do so. The police attempted to stop them for 300 meters, but they continued riding. The police eventually stopped them at the Manipal Centre and took one of them into custody, while the other managed to escape before being later arrested.
Preliminary investigations have suggested that the students had no criminal intent or background, but the police are conducting a probe to ensure the security of the Home Minister was not compromised. Bharatinagar Police have registered a case against the students under IPC Sections 353 and 279 for obstructing the duty of a government official and rash and negligent driving, respectively.
This is not the first time a security breach has been reported during a political visit to Karnataka. A similar incident occurred during the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow on Saturday in Davanagere district. Another security breach was reported earlier on January 14 when a boy named Kunal Dhongadi breached security to garland PM Modi, stating that he is a fan and wants to meet him.
