Hyderabad, June 02 Bandaru Dattatraya, the Honorable Governor of Haryana, paid tribute to the Telangana Martyrs on June 2, 2023, at the Telangana Amaraveerula Smaraka Sthoopam (Martyrs’ Memorial) located opposite the Telangana Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad. On the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, he also garlanded the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad.
The Governor honored the sacrifice and bravery of the Telangana Martyrs at the memorial site. Dressed in traditional attire, he laid wreaths and observed a moment of silence to commemorate their invaluable contribution to the state. The Telangana Amaraveerula Smaraka Sthoopam stands as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by individuals during the Telangana movement.
After paying homage at the memorial, Bandaru Dattatraya proceeded to Basheerbagh, where he paid his respects to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Governor adorned the statue with a garland, symbolizing the unity and strength of the nation. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, played a pivotal role in the integration of princely states into the Indian Union, including the formation of Telangana.
Telangana State Formation Day marks the historic day when Telangana officially became the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014. The day is celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm throughout the region, acknowledging the rich heritage and culture of Telangana.
