Hyderabad, July 05: Telangana Government has made a significant amendment to the state’s medical college admission rules, reserving 100% of the competitive authority quota seats exclusively for local students. Previously, only 85% of seats were reserved for Telangana students, with the remaining 15% open to students from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This change aims to increase the chances of Telangana students securing MBBS seats. Additionally, the government has established government medical colleges in each district, resulting in a significant increase in the number of medical education opportunities. The total number of MBBS seats has risen from 2,850 to 8,340. An amendment has also been made to restrict the unreserved quota to the old medical colleges, ensuring 520 medical seats are exclusively allocated to Telangana students. These decisions emphasize the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare and medical education opportunities to local students.
