Telangana Government to Introduce Common Mobility Card for Public Transport

The Telangana government is set to launch a common mobility card that will revolutionize public transport in Hyderabad city. With this card, commuters will enjoy seamless access to various facilities within the public transport system, including RTC buses, metro rail, MMTS, cabs, and autos.
Ministers K. Taraka Rama Rao, Puvvada Ajay, and Srinivas Goud presided over a meeting at the State Secretariat, where top officials from RTC and Metro Rail organizations presented details about the upcoming card. The initial phase will enable commuters to use the card for Metro Rail and RTC buses, the primary public transport modes in Hyderabad.
In the future, the common mobility card’s services will expand to include MMTS, cab services, and autos. The government aims to adopt a “One Card for All Needs” model, allowing citizens to use the card for various purchases similar to other cards in the future.
Ministers directed the officials to initiate an experimental issuance of the card in Hyderabad by the second week of August. The government envisions expanding the card’s services across Telangana and beyond, providing citizens with seamless access to the National Common Mobility Card available nationwide.
With the common mobility card, citizens can easily utilize public transport systems in other metro cities as well. The Telangana government has sought suggestions from the public for naming the card.
Ministers K. Taraka Rama Rao, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Srinivas Goud, along with Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Arvind Kumar, Metrorail MD N. V. S. Reddy, RTC MD Sajjanar, and other senior officials participated in the review meeting at the State Secretariat. The initiative aims to enhance convenience and ease of travel for citizens, providing them with a seamless commuting experience across various modes of public transportation.
