Hyderabad, July 27: As incessant rains continue to lash Telangana, the state government has taken the decision to extend holidays for all educational institutions by an additional day.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed State Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy to declare a holiday for all educational institutions on Friday. This move comes after schools and colleges remained closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to the heavy rainfall and flash floods in some areas.
With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing red and orange alerts for various districts over the next 24 hours, the government is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff.
As a result of the extended holiday, educational institutions will reopen on Monday, as Saturday is already a general holiday in observance of ‘Youm-e-ashoora’ (10th of Muharram). Last week, a two-day holiday was also declared for all educational institutions in response to the adverse weather conditions caused by heavy rains.
