SKLTSHU Hosts Oil Palm Workshop as Part of Konda Laxman Bapuji’s 108th Birthday Celebration

Siddipet, Telangana, September 28, 2023 – Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTSHU) marked the 108th birthday of Konda Laxman Bapuji with a One Day Workshop on Oil Palm. The event took place at the Administrative Office of SKLTSHU in Mulugu (V&M), Siddipet District, and featured distinguished guests.

The Chief Guest for the workshop was . C. Partha Sarathy, IAS, State Election Commissioner, Government of Telangana. The inaugural session also saw the participation of Dr. E. Srinivasa Rao, State Horticulture Advisor, . B. Narsimha Rao, Oil Palm Consultant, and Bansilal, RDO, Siddipet, who addressed the audience and shed light on the scope and potential of Oil Palm cultivation in Telangana.

Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SKLTSHU, delivered a prudent address emphasizing the importance of conducting workshops on Oil Palm. The primary goal of the workshop was to impart technical knowledge on production and management practices for the sustainable cultivation of Oil Palm to benefit farmers and stakeholders.

A team of experts and scientists from the Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research (IIOPR), Pedavegi, including Director Dr. K. Suresh, delivered lectures covering various aspects of Oil Palm cultivation, research, and development.

Addressing the farmers, C. Partha Sarathy, IAS, highlighted the best management practices for profitable Oil Palm cultivation. . M. Hanumantha Rao, Commissioner of Horticulture, Government of Telangana, focused on the cost of cultivation, economic aspects, profitability, returns, and the support provided by the Department of Horticulture for Oil Palm cultivation.

Dr. E. Srinivas, State Horticulture Advisor, Telangana State, shared insights about the opportunities and advantages of Oil Palm cultivation. Dr. Vijay Khader, Professor and Ex-Dean at ANGRAU, Rajendranagar, discussed the nutritional importance and health benefits of Oil Palm.

B. Narsimha Rao, Oil Palm Consultant, engaged with farmers and officials from various departments, elaborating on the scope and potential of Oil Palm cultivation.

The workshop served as a platform to empower stakeholders with knowledge and expertise in Oil Palm cultivation, contributing to its sustainable growth in the region.
