Chennai, June 10: The makers of actor Vikram’s upcoming action entertainer, tentatively titled #Chiyaan63, officially announced on Tuesday that the film has gone on floors.
Production house Sathya Jyothi Films shared the update on social media, confirming the commencement of shooting for the much-anticipated project directed by Anand Shankar.
Taking to X, the production house posted, “#Chiyaan63 – rolling with power and passion. Cooking begins with the one and only Chiyaan sir. A film by Anand Shankar, on floors now.“
The project marks the latest collaboration between National Award-winning actor Vikram and director Anand Shankar, known for delivering stylish commercial entertainers.
The makers had earlier unveiled a special “First Flame” teaser on Vikram’s birthday, officially announcing the project. The teaser generated considerable buzz among fans by revealing Vikram in an unconventional role as a cook with a mysterious and dangerous side.
The teaser opens with a conversation suggesting that the seemingly ordinary cook should not be underestimated. As armed men attempt to break into a locked building, Vikram’s character is seen calmly continuing his work despite explosions and chaos around him, hinting at an intense action-packed storyline.
The film’s intriguing premise and Vikram’s rugged new look have already created excitement among movie enthusiasts.
Adding to the anticipation, the makers recently announced that actress Riya Shibu has joined the cast of the film.
The story has been penned by director Anand Shankar himself, while the film is being produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films.
The technical crew boasts several prominent names from the industry. Music for the film is being composed by Santhosh Narayanan, while cinematography is handled by renowned cinematographer R.D. Rajasekar.
Production design has been entrusted to Rajeevan, with dialogues written by Shan Karuppusamy. Editing responsibilities are handled by Raymond Derrick Crasta, while Surya Rajeevan serves as the art director. Costumes are designed by Poornima Ramaswamy.
The film is one of the four major projects that Vikram announced earlier this year. In February, the actor had revealed that he would be collaborating with four directors he deeply admired, each project offering a distinct cinematic experience.
“Sometimes silence is preparation. I spent this year waiting for stories that moved me. Grateful to now begin four films, each very different, with directors I deeply admire,” Vikram had written on social media while making the announcement.
Industry sources had subsequently confirmed that one of those projects would be directed by Anand Shankar.
With shooting now underway, fans of Chiyaan Vikram will be eagerly awaiting further updates on the film, which promises a blend of high-octane action, suspense, and Vikram’s trademark screen presence.
