San Francisco, July 24: Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo has been replaced with a new ‘X’ logo on the platform’s web version, as announced by Twitter-owner Elon Musk. Musk had hinted at the change through a series of tweets starting on Sunday, suggesting a transition away from the Twitter brand and the bird symbolism.

The company’s official account underwent a transformation as well, with its name changed to ‘X’ and its profile picture updated accordingly. Musk also shared an image of Twitter’s headquarters with the new ‘X’ logo projected on it, indicating the shift in identity.

To reflect this change, Musk revealed that the domain “X.com” now directs users to “twitter.com,” signifying the adoption of the ‘X’ branding.

In response to user inquiries, Musk hinted at significant shifts beyond just the logo. When a user suggested the new name for a retweet should be “ReX’d,” Musk expressed that the entire concept should be rethought. He also conducted a poll, questioning whether the default platform color should be changed to black.

Addressing user speculations about what Twitter users will be called after the rebranding, Musk cryptically stated, “We will have no name.”

Furthermore, Musk confirmed that once the platform transitions to the new name, a tweet will be referred to as “an X.”

Meanwhile, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino offered her perspective on the change, emphasizing that “X” represents the future state of unlimited interactivity. The transformation will be centered around audio, video, messaging, payments, and banking, aiming to create a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.

According to Yaccarino, this evolution has been in progress for the past eight months, evident in Twitter’s rapid feature launches.

The transition from Twitter to ‘X’ signifies a strategic move by Elon Musk and the company to reposition the platform and offer users a new and innovative interactive experience. The changes are expected to have a significant impact on the way people communicate and engage on social media.
